CLIPPER BLADE SERVICE

What we do:

We unpack the clipper blades and blow off hair (often impacted) with a high pressure air compressor.

All clipper blades are fully inspected for damage i.e. worn parts and any missing teeth. We will not sharpen a blade which is too worn or damaged to undergo a sharpening process. We will determine at this stage whether or not any parts will require replacing. We can sometimes chamfer sharp edges on broken teeth.

The comb blade and then the cutting blade will be sharpened using a hollow grind system (except some horse blades).

Once sharpened, the clipper blades are demagnetised and loose metal swarf is removed.

Clipper blades are then put in an ultra sonic cleaning tank, which generates acoustic shock energy to remove even the most ingrained dirt, particularly from parts that traditional cleaning methods can’t reach.

Clipper blade tension adjustment - Spring tension is a very important aspect of clipper blade sharpening and final assembly. Setting the spring tension is a precise operation, where blades have to be adjusted in pounds per square inch. An experienced sharpener will know how much pressure to use.

Socket adjustment - We adjust all sockets in accordance with the particular clipper machine you use.

We apply accurate set back dimensions; if these are wrongly set the clipper blades won’t cut correctly.

We check that every individual tooth cuts correctly, using a ribbon, specially manufactured to test the sharpness of clipper blades.

Running in on relevant clipper machine. This is important so that the clipper blade can be checked for any movement on the clipper machine.

CERAMIC CLIPPER BLADES

All ceramic clipper blades are sharpened by hand using diamond honing plates. We will remove minimal ceramic material to get past the imperfections and fragmentations. If the ceramic clipper blade is beyond re-sharpening, we will ask if you want the ceramic cutter replaced.

You should only use ceramic clipper blades on clean dogs. It only takes one grain of sand to cause a ceramic clipper blade not to work properly.

Any item that cannot be sharpened will be returned to you with a full technical evaluation.
