Convex & Bevel Scissors

Convex Edges

scissorman

Convex scissor blades have hand finished, razor sharp edges which should be used for finishing on clean hair.

The edges are highly sensitive and dropping them can result in more damage than if you were using bevel scissors.

convex

Be careful when choosing someone to sharpen your expensive convex scissors:

When attempting to sharpen scissors, most sharpeners do so by creating a bevel edge on both blades (including expensive convex scissors). If a bevel edge is applied to a pair of convex scissors, this will alter the angle of the blade, resulting in severe damage.

If you have a pair of convex scissors which have been previously poorly sharpened and now have bevel edges, we may, at extra cost, be able to re-profile the edges back to convex blades. Our scissor experts will determine whether or not this is possible.

Bevel Edges

Bevel edges have a machine cut face along the cutting blade, they are great for general purpose cutting and bulk hair removal. These scissors have the toughest edges which are also very nick resistant.

bevel

Most animal grooming scissors have bevel edges, however convex scissors (which are usually found in the hairdressing industry) are starting to emerge in the animal grooming industry.
